• With Father’s Day right around the corner and June being Men’s Health Month, there’s no better time to focus on the men in our lives. Just a reminder to every man out there that taking care of your health is not only smart, it’s necessary. Too often, men put their well-being on the back burner, powering through fatigue, low energy, weight gain, or emotional burnout thinking it’s “just part of getting older.” It’s not. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and weight loss injections aren’t just for women. Men face hormone imbalances too, often resulting in stubborn weight gain, low testosterone, poor sleep, mood shifts, and reduced drive. The good news? These issues are treatable and you don’t have to deal with them alone. We’re here to break the stigma. Men deserve to feel strong, energized, and confident at every age. If you’re feeling off, or struggling with symptoms that won’t go away, it […]

  • Warmer weather means more time outdoors, and a higher chance of tick bites. While most are harmless, some ticks can carry illnesses like Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and more. Here’s what to do if you or a loved one is bitten by a tick, and when to call your doctor: Check the Bite If you find a tick, remove it gently with tweezers, grabbing it as close to the skin as possible. Wash the area with soap and water. Save the tick in a sealed bag if possible, in case testing is needed. Watch for Symptoms Tick bites can look like tiny red bumps, but if you notice: • A bullseye-shaped rash or expanding redness • Fever, chills, or fatigue • Muscle or joint aches • Headaches or neck stiffness Early treatment makes a big difference. If you experience any of the symptoms above or if the bite looks infected […]

  • June is Men’s Health Month, and here at our office, we want to take a moment to focus on the fathers, brothers, sons, husbands, coworkers, and friends, who often put their health last on the list. We see it all the time: “I’m fine.” “I’ll go next month.” “I don’t have time for that right now.” But the truth is, taking care of yourself isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength. Preventive care, early screenings, and routine check-ups can help catch issues early, improve energy, and protect your future. This month, our team is encouraging men to: ✔️ Schedule that overdue physical ✔️ Talk about blood pressure, cholesterol, and screenings ✔️ Bring up any health concerns, even if they feel small ✔️ Ask questions about mental wellness and stress ✔️ Take small, doable steps toward better health This June, let’s break the silence around men’s health. Let’s replace avoidance […]

  • I had the sweetest full-circle moment running into a former nurse Darlene from Family Physicians, the very same one who took care of me back when I was a much younger patient. Now, years later, I’m part of the office she once worked with and I am still a patient. Funny how life brings things back around in the most meaningful ways. 💙 Do you remember Darlene? She did come to visit Dr. Goedken, but I had to ask her for a selfie.

  • This Memorial Day we at Family Physicians pause to reflect on the true meaning of this important day. While many enjoy the long weekend with family barbecues, parades, and the unofficial start of summer, we remember that Memorial Day is, above all, a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice has secured the freedoms we cherish and the opportunities we enjoy, including the privilege to care for our community’s health and well-being. We are deeply grateful to all those who have served, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We also recognize the families who carry the legacy of these heroes. Your strength and resilience are an inspiration, and we honor your loved ones’ memory with heartfelt gratitude. This Memorial Day, our office encourages everyone to take a moment of reflection, perhaps attend a local remembrance event, or […]

  • As the season of caps, gowns, and proud celebrations arrives, it’s hard not to reflect on what graduation really means. It’s more than just a ceremony, it’s a milestone. And much like in education, our health journey is full of milestones too. The Journey, Not Just the Destination Graduation doesn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of years of dedication, setbacks, learning, and progress. Similarly, good health isn’t a one-time achievement, it’s a continuous process. It takes: • Regular checkups (like exams before finals) • Daily habits (just like studying a little each day) • Support systems (family, teachers, and doctors!) • Persistence, especially when things get tough Celebrating Progress Just as we celebrate students for finishing school, we should celebrate ourselves for taking steps toward better health. Whether you finally started a workout routine, quit smoking, managed your blood pressure, or kept up with your annual exams, you’ve earned that “health diploma.” […]
