When temperatures drop, frostbite can set in faster than you think. Bundle up in layers, cover your fingers, ears, and nose, and limit your time outside when wind chills are low. Your skin and your nerves will thank you.

Snow shoveling may feel like a winter workout, but it can put unexpected strain on your back, muscles, and heart. Take it slow, push rather than lift when possible, and take breaks to avoid overexertion. If something doesn’t feel right, listen to your body.

As we were relaxing at our campsite, who should happen to ride by on her bike but our new nurse, Rachel!
